On Friday, June 9th, 2017, the 15th Day of the 5th Month in Lunar Calendar, the day to celebrate Sakyamuni Buddha's attainment of Buddhahood and nirvana in Tibetan tradition, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, had his first visit to the Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada and paid tribute to Manjusri Bodhisattva.

His Holiness the 17th Karmapa wrote in Tibetan language "Propagating Buddhadharma, Saving All Sentient Beings to the Farthest Extent".
His Holiness the 17th Karmapa invited Ven. Dayi Shi to the 4th Dialogue of the Three Major Traditions of Buddhism during his premiere visit to Canada in June 2017. On that occasion, Ven. Dayi Shi and the 17th Karmapa effectively exchanged experiences and opinions on propagation of Buddhism in western countries in the contemporary world. Though the two renowned Dharma Masters represent two different Traditions of Buddhism and speak different languages, they have a mutual responsibility and goal of teaching Buddhadharma to all sentient beings. After hearing of the construction of Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada, the 17th Karmapa decided to have a visit to pay tribute to Manjusri Bodhisattva and support this grand Buddhist project.
After the prayer service, His Holiness the 17th Karmapa and Ven. Dayi Shi planted a maple tree together as an embodiment of friendship on one bank of Wisdom Lake, wishing for further development and prosperity of both Mahayana and Vajrayana Traditions.
The famous Chinese singer Ms. Jing Shan Yuan presented a Tenmoku tea set with oil-spot pattern to the 17th Karmapa.
