Digital Communications and Social Media Position

The Buddhist Association of Canada is a Not-for-Profit organization. It has over ten affiliated locations in Ontario, providing various types of both religious and non-religious services, such as prayer service, palliative care, library service, Tai Chi class, and many cultural exchange activities. It aims to propagate Chinese Mahayana Buddhism and promote social harmony and multiculturalism in Canada.

 



 

Responsibilities:

 

- Establish a strong digital and social media presence

 

- Create and implement a communications strategy

 

- Help source, write and edit content for website, social media releases

 

- Manage social media communications on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

 

- Assist in building and nurturing the organization's online communities

 

- Work with the Website Manager to ensure content on website is up to date and relevant

 



 

Skills and Experience Required:

 

- Background and up-to-date knowledge of social media and how to use it to effectively promote an organization

 

- Post secondary education in journalism, communications, marketing, advertising or a related program OR some experience managing communications within an organization

 

- Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communications skills

 

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

 

- Keen attention to details

 

- Fluent English; knowledge of Chinese is an asset

 

- Knowledge or interest in Buddhism is an asset

 

- Experience in graphic design is a strong asset

 

- Own laptop would be a plus

 



 

Minimum Hours:

 

4 to 6 hours per week and most of the work can be done at home (2 or 3 monthly meetings will be required)
