Objectives
The Stupa was built with the hope to bring about a peaceful and contented world through the promulgation of Buddhism. To achieve this goal, both the Sangha and the laity bring resources together to work towards the following objectives:
1) to develop and promote the Stupa as a key tourist attraction in Canada
2) to introduce and promote Buddhism, its philosophy and culture
3) to provide an elegant, peaceful and inspiring place of interest to visitors
4) to provide a means for practitioners to offer their service and contribution to the Triple Gem
Practice
We build our learning from:
1) the teachings of the Buddha;
2) the transcendental wisdom of Bodhisattva of the Greatest Wisdom (Manjusri);
3) the loving-kindness of Bodhisattva of the Greatest Compassion (Avalokitesvara);
4) the conviction and perseverance of Bodhisattva of the Greatest Resolve (Ksitigarbha);
5) the faith and practice of Bodhisattva of the Greatest Achievement (Samantabhadra).
Faith
To have faith rooted in understanding that all people possess an inherent Buddha-nature.
Conviction
To have the vigor and perseverance to strive fearlessly towards our goal and to serve others to the best of our ability.
Loving-Kindness
To pervade the whole world in compassion, altruism, joy and equanimity.
Wisdom
To be wise and be able to see things as they truly are; to be enlightened and to be able to enlighten others.
