    Venerable Master Shing Cheung, the son of Mr. Meng in the Ningjin County of Shandong Province, was born in 1920. In 1946, he became a novice at Da Bei Temple in Tianjin under the guidance of Venerable Master Hui Xian. He was ordained by Venerable Master Xi Ran at Da Jue Xin Shan Temple in Tianjin. He graduated from the South China (Huanan) School of Buddhism of Hongfa Temple in Hong Kong in 1955. After Venerable Master Tan Xu founded the Chinese Buddhist Library in 1958, Venerable Master Shing Cheung served him closely and helped perform sermons there. In 1967, Venerable Master Shing Cheung was invited by Venerable Master Lok To and Upasika Jiang Huang Neng Jin to visit and preach Buddhism in the United States and Canada. Not long afterwards, he together with Venerable Master Sing Hung, decided to stay in Canada. Since then, they established The Buddhist Association of Canada, Cham Shan Temple and many other assembly locations to propagate the Dharma.
